and any other meetings anyone wanted them to.
Stated the problem
with the library and the youth hanging around is being “handled
greatly”. This problem is resolving in a positive way.
They
stated they would not be at the June 6th meeting. They
will be attending a conference for the sheriff office.
Correspondence Folder---None
ACCT Report—Kevin stated this was addressed in executive meeting. Briefly stated from that meeting.
Council Member
Excused---Chuck was excused from public meeting at 7:20 PM in
order to attend another meeting regarding
the building of a new
school in West Valley and it’s impact on the Kearns community.
Citizen Input---Kevin
took this item out of order on the agenda because of several
residents in attendance wishing to address
the fact of re-development
in their areas. Several residents, business owners, etc… in
attendance (list attached)
expressed their concerns, their anger, and
questions on re-development that may take place in their area.
Most
of them wanted to express the fact that they are trying to improve
their business in the areas they are in and want to stay.
They feel
they have been ignored by the county in roads, property taxes and
other issues.
They don’t want to have their business torn down and
are very upset they were not aware of this re-development before.
They stated that no one has come to any of them and talked with them.
Committee Reports---
Planning and Zoning---Chuck had not returned so this
report was tabled.
Public Safety---Debby turned time over to
Cpt. Dave Burdett from the county sheriff to address the issue of
patrol car logos.
Cpt. Burdett stated that this was never an issue
to put out to the public or council to vote on or design something
for a logo
on each patrol car in the Kearns community. He has said
that if the public wanted to do something like that he would
entertain a discussion on it.
He had spoke to Chuck one time, a
while ago, about this. He stated his own opinion is that it is a
waste of taxpayers dollars to do this,
but if we really wanted to he
would be happy to take something to the Sheriff for us for
consideration.
Community Involvement---Paula
stated that in
lieu of the short amount of time left that she would pass on her time
so that the next presenters,
Kearns Improvement District could have
the time. Her issues could wait till the next meeting on June 6th.
Unfinished Business---
None
New Business---
Kearns
Improvement District---Pam Gill gave presentation on their
low
flush toilet program.
She stated that they have secured a grant from
Jordan Valley Water for 300 low flush toilets. The application for
these will go out in next water bill.
The requirements to obtain one
of these are the toilet in place must be in severe repair and need to
be replaced.
These low flow toilets will conserve many gallons of
water. Also stated that their Conservation Garden will have an open
house on June 20th.
This is located at 6200 South and
5800 West. This open house will be all day.
The garden is open 24

need plants, soil, landscaping, etc…
