Call To Order---Chuck McDowell, Chairman
Pledge Of Allegiance---Mookie O’Neal, Kearns
resident.
Roll Call Of Members---Seven council members in
attendance, two excused, as listed above.
Minutes---Executive and public
minutes for 4/3/07 and executive minutes for 2/20/07 reviewed and approved as
corrected in executive meeting. All
voted on decisions and motions that were made in executive meeting are recorded
and accepted as such in this public meeting.
Correspondence Folder---None.
Sheriff Report---None.
Code Enforcement---Officer Corey Carlson
stated that Anita is no longer in the Kearns area. They have under 1000 open cases in Kearns and will be creating
two new programs. Would like to work
with the council to stiffen up existing county ordinances. He would take the council’s suggestions back
to the county. Chuck suggested we form
a committee to review ordinances. Committee,
so far, will be Kevin, Al Britton, and Corey.
Committee Reports---Planning & Zoning---Kevin reported that the Chevron gas station
on 40th West and 4500 South wants to build on a storage unit. File #47005. Brigham Wagstaff representing the car wash was available for
questions. ***Motion by Kevin to approve with no restrictions. 2nd by Al. Chuck called for vote. 6 votes yes, 0 votes no. Motion passed. Library and Education---Nicholina
from the after school program reported that the kids will be putting on a play,
which they wrote, at Capitol Theatre 6/9/07 and was asking for support from the
council. The play is titled
“Switch”. ***Motion by Kathy to become a sponsor for them and donate $1000.00
from special funding to them. 2nd
by Paula. Chuck stated that they need
to bring their invoices to the council to pay.
Chuck called for the vote. 6
yes, 0 no. Motion passed.
Unfinished Business—County Garbage Containers—Tabled.
Tree Planting—Claudia and
Kevin both announced their clean up and tree planting projects. Giving dates, times, and locations.
New Business---Kearns Improvement District---Samantha asked other council members
if any of them have been having problems with very low water pressure. She has had some problems in her area. Chuck and Kathy suggested that KID come to
one of the council meetings to present and can address problems at that time.
Citizen Input---Royce Gibson, Chair Taste of Kearns Committee, reported on the
Taste of Kearns event and handed out flyers.
