Call To Order---Chuck McDowell, Chairman
Pledge Of Allegiance---Rep. Jim Dunnigan
Roll Call Of Members---Nine members in attendance, as listed.
Minutes---Public minutes for 6/3/2008 and workshop minutes 6/26/2008 were approved as read and corrected.
Correspondence Folder---None
Treasurer Report---Kevin handed out 2008 final budget for members to review. Stated still waiting for receipts from Kearns High School baseball for special funding request. Al will follow up on.
Citizen Input---None
Chairman Awards---Chuck presented council member Kevin Lundy with a Certificate of Appreciation from the chairman for his support and hard work in the community both as a council member and Kearns resident.
Public Presentation---Envision Utah, Gabriel Epperson, gave presentation on Jordan River Parkway Project. Presented present and future possibilities of improvements and what public input was. They are midway into the project and will be having an open house in August 2008.
Public Reports---Mayors Office---None. Sheriff Office---Dep. Bennett gave updated report stating that Bandaleros was closed, but will be re-opening as a new establishment. He presented the Miss Kearns Royalty 2008 with a certificate of appreciation from the Sheriff Federation Union for their support of the Cuff/Cancer project. Westside Rep--
Greg Schulz stated he would like council feedback on the top priorities for 2009 list he prepared for the council. Council stated ok, no objections. Greg will go ahead and submit the list to the county. UFA---None.
Committee Reports---Planning & Zoning---Kevin reported on request for an auto lube business located behind Zion’s Bank. File # 24285. ***Motion by Kevin to approve this request. 2nd by Al. Chuck stated he did receive a call from a resident in that area, but that they had no objections to this business going in as long as the owner keeps it cleaned up. Chuck called for vote. 7 yes, 0 no. Motion passed. Public Works---Chuck reported on the 5600 West Beautification stating the plan is to kick off one section of the project sometime this year. The funding is in place for this first part of the project. Additional funding will be sought after. Ruby stated that she is looking for “decrepit” sidewalks, curbs, and gutters in Kearns that need to be repaired. Community Involvement---Paula reported time and place for council members to be for staging for Magna parade. Charles has secured a truck for council. Also reported on Hometown Night
Unfinished Business---HB 40---Chuck stated that he has been talking to Nicole Dunn at the Mayors office this week. She has stated that the HB40 results will be out the first week of August 2008.
