Skatepark/ZAP Sub-Committee
A couple dozen skaters and bmx bikers in Kearns attended workshops recently to talk to Skatepark Architect, SITE Design Group, Inc. and
provide input for the design of the new Kearns SkatePark.
Although a site has not been chosen for the 30,000 square foot concrete Kearns SkatePark facility, the Project Design Team has looked at several areas as a possible location. A home for the skatepark should be finalized within the next month or two.
Members of the community and interested parties can track the progress of the skatepark on the Site Design website at http://www.sitedesigngroup.com. Click on "Action Sports Development" and log in to the Community Concept Page. The user name is kearns and the password is skate.
Site Design partnered with Psomas, a full-service consulting firm who is currently working on architectural drafts of a master plan for the Oquirrh Park and the skatepark. These drafts include designs for multi-use sports fields as well as playground and picnic areas for the Oquirrh Park.
The community liaison for the Kearns ZAP projects is Cathy Harding, who sits on the Project Design Team, and it is her responsibility to act as the conduit between the public and the committees to insure that information and comments flow freely back and forth.
If you have questions, or have ideas that you would like to be considered for incorporation into the design of the skatepark and Oquirrh Park,
please call Cathy at 688-9376 or email at surfinsaphire@comcast.net.
